Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating a Between Us: Attachment (“Between Us”) account or using the app, you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old to use Between Us. By using the service you confirm you meet this requirement.

3. The service

Between Us is a private journaling and self-reflection companion. You write entries, and the app uses AI to reflect patterns back to you. Optional features include the Lake (anonymous community posts), healing exercises, and Bridge (opt-in partner pairing).

4. Health disclaimer

Between Us is a journaling and self-reflection companion. It is not a medical device, does not provide diagnosis or treatment, and is not a substitute for professional mental-health care.

If you are in crisis or need clinical support, please contact a licensed mental-health professional or one of the resources on our support page.

5. Account registration & security

You’re responsible for keeping your account credentials secure. Let us know promptly if you notice unauthorized activity on your account.

6. Subscriptions & billing

Free tier

Without a subscription you get, per day:

• 3 full AI reflections (partial reflections continue after the cap)
• 1 Lake post
• 1 healing exercise

Journal entries themselves are unlimited on the free tier. Bridge mode and full insights are premium features.

Premium

Premium is $12.99 / month (com.betweenus.premium.monthly) or $79.99 / year (com.betweenus.premium.yearly). The entitlement is identified as “Between Us Pro”. Premium unlocks unlimited reflections and exercises, Bridge mode, unlimited Lake posts, and the full Insights dashboard. There is no free trial.

Billing through Apple

All purchases are processed by Apple through the App Store. Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled. Apple’s standard grace period applies if a renewal fails.

To cancel, go to your Apple ID settings. Deleting the Between Us app or your Between Us account does not cancel your subscription — Apple must cancel it on their side. Please cancel in your Apple ID settings before deleting your account to avoid continued billing.

7. Acceptable use & community standards

Between Us has zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. The following rules apply everywhere user-generated content is shared — the Lake (anonymous community posts) and Bridge (partner pairing).

Prohibited content and conduct

• Harassment, bullying, threats, or targeted abuse of any individual or group.
• Hate speech or discrimination on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, or any protected characteristic.
• Content that encourages, glorifies, or provides instructions for self-harm or suicide.
• Sexually explicit content, nudity, or sexual content involving minors.
• Violent, graphic, or gratuitously disturbing content.
• Sharing personally identifying information about other people without their consent (doxxing).
• Spam, scams, fraudulent solicitations, or commercial promotion.
• Content that infringes intellectual-property rights, or that violates any applicable law.
• Impersonation of another person or entity.

Filtering before content is published

Before a Lake post becomes visible to other users, it passes through automated content filtering designed to detect objectionable material. Posts that fail this filter are blocked at submission.

Reporting objectionable content or abusive users

Every Lake post and every Bridge partner has an in-app Report control. Tap it to flag content that violates these standards. You may also email reports to support@betweenusattachment.com with the post ID or user ID and a brief description.

Blocking abusive users

You can block any user from the same in-app menu. Once blocked, you will no longer see their Lake posts and they will be unable to initiate a Bridge connection with you.

Our response commitment

We act on reports of objectionable content or abusive behavior within 24 hours of receipt. When a report is substantiated, we remove the offending content and, where warranted, suspend or permanently terminate the account responsible. Repeat or severe violations result in immediate, permanent removal from the service.

8. Service limitations and fair use

Premium subscriptions described as “unlimited” are intended for normal personal use. To protect service stability and prevent abuse, we may establish reasonable usage limits, including limits on request frequency, processing capacity, and AI analysis volume per day. We may also throttle, suspend, or modify access where usage materially exceeds typical personal use, as determined by us. We will make commercially reasonable efforts to ensure these limits do not affect ordinary users.

9. Your content

You own what you write. You grant us a limited license to process your entries (send them to our AI provider, store them in our database, display them back to you) only as needed to run the service for you. We never use your content to train AI models.

When you post to the Lake, you grant us a limited license to display that post anonymously to other Between Us users for as long as you leave it published. You can delete your own posts at any time.

10. Intellectual property

The Between Us: Attachment app, website, logo, copy, and original content are our intellectual property. You may not copy or redistribute them without permission.

11. Privacy

How we handle your data is described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.

12. Termination

You can delete your account from inside the app at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms. Termination does not refund existing subscription charges — those are handled by Apple under Apple’s refund policy.

13. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

Between Us is provided “as is”, without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your misuse of the service or your violation of these terms.

15. Dispute resolution

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Between Us: Attachment is domiciled, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of competent jurisdiction in that state, unless applicable law requires otherwise.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app with a reasonable notice period before they take effect.
